Humbled.

Moody_sky_over_87b5

Life can have a strange way of being difficult, yet humbling at the same time. Things have happened recently that made daily living difficult, at least for a few days. Although, difficult as it may be during these few days, humbling it has been.

I have learned a little from these things that have proven difficult. “Tricks of the Trade”, some would call it. Enhancement in preparation is one “thing”. Although true, you can’t prepare for everything, but you can prepare enough so that luck may swing your way. Luck, itself, is where opportunity meets preparation.

running2For the last two years, the motivation to exercise has been lost. It has been replaced by doing whatever I pleased as long as it brought comfort. That could be anything from eating, drinking, lying around watching TV, etc. What has it got me, twenty pounds heavy. That’s ten pounds a year. Something has to change, and now!

Well, it appears, this week, I have finally been able to glimpse at what use to motivate me to stay fit. That glimpse has spurred excitement with a little extra motivation given to running. It’s not only portion size I need to reduce, and I have; it’s the need to increase running distance during the week. Instead of running no more than 3.5 miles, I need to increase it to at least 5 miles. That is a lot of extra calories burned that will hopefully burn off the weight faster.

It has worked in the past, why not do it now.

Gone Running!

running1Running has to be one of the best things you can do for yourself. It not only helps manage weight, but increases mental awareness, lowers stress, increases good cholesterol, along with helping gain better sleep habits. Running can create a “Runner’s High” state, leaving you feeling good and care free. Running can also provide meditation to those that choose longer runs. Runners, who choose longer runs, will experience a zoned-out state of consciousness. It becomes a pleasant time to evaluate things or ponder life’s tougher questions.

The rhythm of running is a great way to get into that relaxed state. I believe I’ll go running today, even though, I hadn’t planned on it. I could use the ’therapy’ of a run.
