One Person's View of Life

Running in the heat…

Lately, the heat has been getting to me. Over the last several years, I have loved the warmer weather for running. I long to go run and look down at myself during a run, to find sweat covered legs. It tells me I am doing something and it makes me feel as if all the bad karma and stress is leaving my body. For me, it is just easier to go for a run in the warmer weather than in the cooler weather. It doesn’t take long to warm up, you can sweat profusely, and feel great after the run.

However, the heat during the last couple of runs have made me slow down my pace. Just this morning, my pace was good, but felt I didn’t have the power to push the pace any higher. I have felt drained. So, I changed my liquids to include a little more sodium and sugar. My hope is, this will help with dehydration during the run and help me feel a little better…

…softball.

I helped coach a U6 Softball team this season. I had the pleasure of helping a great coach and will miss not helping him out with U6 next year when my daughter and I move up to U8.

The head coach took a team mostly new to softball and won the league. Now we have the privilege of going to all-stars with the head coach. I also have the privilege of helping coach the team. What a great learning experience!

I have no worries about what position my daughter will play. Any position on an all-star team is a learning experience and a privilege.

Life after Graduation

Ah, Graduation. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I do not believe I will miss going to class after a full day of work or arriving home late at night after classes had ended for the day.

I have already begun to adjust to the free time with family, some training on the bike, etc. I have also begin to reconnect with old friends, as well as putting (back) together my support circle. Although, I am in no hurry to get this done.

My goal, slowly release the hassle of going to school while replacing it with family, exercise, church, and generally just taking care of things. After years of “peddle to the floor”, I need some coasting time (but not too much).
